YERUN Hackathon 2025: Hack the Future of Tutoring

The YERUN Hackathon 2025 concluded after an exciting week from 7–14 November, bringing together students from Europe and ASEAN to co-create AI-powered solutions for the future of tutoring. As part of DigiEduHack 2025, this first-ever YERUN online hackathon challenged international teams to design inclusive, engaging tutoring tools—no prior AI experience required.

Over 24 hours, students collaborated across time zones, supported by expert mentors, to rapidly build working prototypes. The winning team earns a place in the European-level finale.

⚖️ Final Pitching & Expert Jury

During the final pitching event, teams presented to a distinguished jury of experts from industry and academia, including Google Cloud, Apple, Zillow, Global Payments, Google DeepMind, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, Trailblaze, and Duy Tan University’s IoT & Intelligent Systems Lab.

🏆 A Proud Moment for P2A: Team Alpha Wins First Place

We are delighted to announce that Tung Do from Duy Tan University, participating via the P2A Secretariat partnership, and his international teammates won the top overall award among all eight teams.

Their winning project, “Adaptly,” impressed the jury with its strong focus on accessibility and inclusion in digital learning.

Project Spotlight: Adaptly

Adaptly is an AI-powered web app that helps students with learning disabilities—such as dyslexia, ADHD, autism, and hearing challenges—better understand educational content. Key features include:

  • - Real-time text simplification and adaptive formatting

- Auto-generated comprehension quizzes

- A clean, distraction-free interface

  • - AI that refines outputs based on learner feedback

Other teams explored fresh ideas ranging from AI mentoring tools to well-being support systems and emotionally aware learning assistants—showcasing the broad potential of AI in education.

🎓 Expanding YERUN–ASEAN Collaboration

Through the strengthened partnership between YERUN and ASEAN, more ASEAN students—especially those from the P2A network- will continue gaining opportunities to join future YERUN hackathons and collaborate with European peers on human-centered AI innovation.
